West Brom news as American tycoon ready to replace Carlos Corberan

West Brom have offered Torino manager Ivan Juric a “super” contract to replace Carlos Corberan in a shock twist of events, according to TuttoSport.

The Italian website reported [12 February] that the Baggies have offered the Croatian a sensational deal worth £1.7million, with the Torino manager open to an exit from Serie A.

It is understood that, with The Hawthorns closing in on new ownership, an “American tycoon” would be willing to make a clean slate at the club, meaning Corberan could be set for an exit.

West Brom can ignore media nonsense

It would be entirely unfair to criticise the job that Corberan has managed under the current circumstances at The Hawthorns, with no chance of this happening at all.

West Brom are in a battle with Coventry City, Sunderland and Hull City for the bottom two playoff spots, with Leeds United, Ipswich Town and Southampton firmly ahead.

Though the teams are only separated by a handful of points, West Brom’s new acquisitions during the January transfer window will help maintain a steady flow of results as the league comes to a vital stage.

The Baggies have recorded impressive results against their fellow promotion rivals, including a 1-0 win over Leeds, a 2-0 win against Ipswich Town and a 1-0 win over Norwich City.

Once the takeover at The Hawthorns is complete, Corberan should be given the opportunity to thrive, and given the track record of Italian media – this is likely complete nonsense.

Carlos Corberan has been praised for the job he’s done at West Brom

In comparison to Corberan, Juric only has experience in Serie A with Torino, Hellas Verona and Genoa, who are all relatively small sides compared to the giants of Juventus, AC Milan and Napoli.

The 48-year-old searching for new opportunities is not a good enough reason to replace the current manager, who has excelled under great pressure so far.
