West Brom confirmed XI v Cardiff City – Carlos Corberan axes Jed Wallace

Carlos Corberan has made three changes to his starting lineup for the West Brom clash against Cardiff City at The Hawthorns on Tuesday 13 February.

Ahead of kick-off, the Baggies confirmed via their official X account (13 February) that Alex Palmer will start in goal, with Darnell Furlong, Erik Pieters, Cedric Kipre and Conor Townsend playing in defence.

Alex Mowatt starts in midfield alongside Okay Yokuslu while Mikey Johnston, Tom Fellows and John Swift will look to support forward Brandon Thomas-Asante in the attacking positions.

Swift, Johnston, and Pieters replace Jed Wallace, Andreas Weimann and Kyle Bartley

West Brom must bounce back from late heartbreak

West Brom’s clash with Ipswich Town on Saturday 10 February ended in cruel fashion for Corberan and his players, as well as forward Daryl Dike who suffered another crushing injury setback.

With just minutes left to play, the Baggies looked as if they were going to pick up a huge three points away from home against Kieran McKenna’s side at Portman Road.

However, former Arsenal star Omari Hutchinson stepped up in the 93rd minute to score an equaliser for the hosts which saw the promotion showdown end 2-2.

West Brom must now put that disappointment behind them as they have a big opportunity to tighten their grasp on a Championship play-off position with three points against the Bluebirds on Tuesday night.

A win would move the hosts five points clear of Coventry City in sixth and Sunderland in seventh.

The Baggies have lost just once at The Hawthorns in league competition since the start of September when league leaders Leicester City ran out 2-1 winners on 2 December.

Meanwhile, Cardiff City have won just twice in their past eight matches in all competitions, and Corberan and his players will be confident of claiming maximum points in front of their own fans.
