West Brom make loan decision on teenage gem Ronnie Hollingshead

West Brom have agreed to extend the loan deal with Alvechurch for 19-year-old goalkeeper Ronnie Hollingshead, who has gained experience with their first team, as confirmed by the Alvechurch X account.

Hollingshead initially joined the non-league side on a one-month loan deal until the end of January [West Brom official website], but has now agreed to stay until the end of the season.

The young goalkeeper signed his first professional contract with the Baggies at the start of last year, putting pen to paper on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

West Brom agree to extend Ronnie Hollingshead on loan

This is Hollingshead’s second spell in senior football, having previously spent time on a short-term loan deal with non-league Hednesford Town at the beginning of 2023.

Alvechurch is just a stones-throw from West Brom, just south of Birmingham, so it should be easy for the club to track the progress of their young player while he is away from The Hawthorns.

The loan club plays their football in the Southern League Premier Division Central, level seven of the English football pyramid, which will give Hollingshead a chance to find experience playing senior football, regardless of the level.

It is said that the goalkeeper has picked up plenty from Baggies goalkeeping coach Boaz Myhill, and if he can impress at The Hawthorns as much as his coach did, he will quickly make himself a fan-favourite in years to come.

Having spent time with the Wales Under-21 squad during the March international break last year, he will be looking to continue to impress in each game to forge an international career for himself.
