West Brom work to finalise Yann M’Vila transfer deal following fresh injury blow

West Brom are working to finalise a deal to sign free-agent midfielder Yann M’Vila in the aftermath of the injury blow to Kyle Bartley, according to the Express & Star.

The newspaper reported via their website on 13 February that the most likely player to step into Bartley’s role against Cardiff, with Semi Ajayi unlikely to be ready, is Okay Yokuslu, although his presence in midfield would be missed.

In an attempt to sure up that situation if Yokuslu does drop out of the midfield, Carlos Corberan’s side are looking to bring in M’Vila, having initially been linked with the deal following the summer window.

West Brom still looking to finalise Yann M’Vila deal

Reports emerging in France in the last few days shared West Brom were in advanced negotiations with the former Sunderland player, and days later they appear to still be edging towards the final stages despite it previously being suggested an announcement could have been on the way.

Even if the deal was confirmed ahead of the Cardiff game on 13 February, there is no way M’Vila would be able to start since he wouldn’t have been registered or trained with the club, but he could be prepared for the clash with Southampton on 16 February.

The return of Semi Ajayi will also be eagerly awaited by the club to fill the gap left by Bartley’s absence, which would mean Corberan was spoilt for choice in terms of his midfield options.

An injury earlier in the season to Jayson Molumby, expected to keep him out for the foreseeable future, meant Albion had to act fact to bolster their ranks, with M’Vila providing the perfect opportunity outside of the transfer window.
