Bristol City take swipe at Cardiff City as they message Andi Weimann after West Brom goal

Bristol City have taken a swipe at Cardiff City in a new message to West Brom star Andi Weimann, following the Baggies’ Championship win over the Bluebirds.

Carlos Corberan’s side extended their unbeaten run to three matches with a 2-0 win over Cardiff at The Hawthorns on Tuesday (13 February) with goals from Michael Johnston and Weimann proving to be the difference between the two sides.

Weimann, who is on loan from Bristol City until the end of the season, has always had a consistent goalscoring record against the Robins’ Severnside rivals and City were quick to send the Austrian international a message after his strike on Tuesday.

Commenting on the Albion loanee’s Instagram post (14 February) Bristol City’s account said: “Loves a goal against Cardiff” followed by an eye emoji.

Andi Weimann firing West Brom closer to playoffs

West Brom were always keen to add to their forward options in the January transfer window and it appears as though with the signing of Weimann, they have managed to find a forward capable of coming up with important goals in big matches.

The 32-year-old has managed to score twice and pick up and assist in four appearances for the Baggies so far and while his performances haven’t been perfect, he has added an extra dimension in the final third that could be crucial in the playoff race.

With the likes of Daryl Dike and Josh Maja currently sidelined through injury, Albion need players like Johnston and Weimann to step up and perform immediately to keep their promotion hopes alive and the loan pair did exactly that against the Bluebirds.

On a personal note, Weimann would have enjoyed getting one over one of his former rivals, as he did when he fired home against Birmingham City. If he maintains his early West Brom form for the remainder of the season, he may well be able to earn a permanent switch.
