West Brom Women: Siobhan Hodgetts-Still fumes at ‘frustrating’ defeat v Halifax
West Brom Women boss Siobhan Hodgetts-Still has fumed at her side after the late 2-1 defeat to Halifax in their FA Women’s National League clash.
The boss claimed it was a frustrating performance given the way her side controlled and dominated the game through both halves just to get caught on the counter in the closing stages.
Albion will be looking to bounce back next time out, having fallen down the table as a result of the defeat to Halifax who were below them before kick-off.
“I’m disappointed with the result,” Hodgetts-Still told the official West Brom website, “I thought we dominated large parts of the game, not to come away with anything is disappointing.
“We controlled it possession-wise, we came out second half and dominated it. For me, we created three or four very good chances and they went up the other end on the counter and scored.
“That’s the most frustrating part. We’re a work in progress and in-possession, some of the patterns that came out were good. We need to be better in and around the final third, we have to take our chances.
“Not to come away with anything, the girls deserved better. They grafted and really pushed on to try and get that win.”
West Brom Women’s frustrating season continues
Having defeated a struggling Derby side last time out, Hodgetts-Still would’ve gone into this one hoping for a repeat performance and a second three points in as many weeks but was left disappointed despite a strong display.
The official club match report singled out Halifax goalkeeper Becky Flaherty for her efforts to deny the Baggies, and if not for her heroics, Albion could have made the scoreline significantly more favourable.
Flaherty was especially impressive in her saves to deny Abi Loydon and Simon Jhamat after Albion created good chances for their attacking options but they were unable to find the net.

When the goal eventually came in the second half, West Brom Women started to pile on the pressure in search of a second but were caught on the counter and ended up losing 2-1.
This result sees West Brom drop to tenth in the league, with Halifax leapfrogging them into eighth in what will be seen as a missed opportunity to capitalise on a weaker opponent.
