West Brom: Lewis Cox shares when Shilen Patel takeover will complete after official statement
West Brom will complete and exchange the takeover by Shilen Patel next week after an official West Brom statement confirmed the deal, Express & Star journalist Lewis Cox has said.
The Baggies released an official statement late on Thursday (15 February) to announce that Bilkul Football WBA, LLC – a company own by Patel and his father Dr Kiran C. Patel – have agreed to purchase an 87.8 per cent stake in West Bromich Albion Group Limited, the parent company of the Baggies (official website, 15 February).
It added that the takeover has been approved by the EFL and Cox, writing on Twitter, posted to say when the deal should be ratified.
“Confirmed. Shilen Patel – & father Dr Kiran Patel – Albion takeover from Guochuan Lai confirmed,” he wrote.
“Majority 87.8pc shareholder. Consortium name Bilkul (‘absolutely’ in Hindi) Football WBA. Exchange and completion next week.”

Finally the news all West Brom fans have been waiting for! The end of the Guochan Lai era is upon us and everyone can take a hugh sigh of relief and start looking forward to the future with some optimism.
This one has taken way longer than any of us would have hoped to get over the line but as with every takeover deal there are always hurdles to jump and obstacles to overcome but eventually it is has happened.
It looked as though it was going to be close when it was confirmed earlier on Thursday that Patel would be in attendance for Friday’s (16 February) Championship clash against automatic-promotion chasing Southampton.
That game at The Hawthorns is now sure to have a huge buzz around it as the ground welcomes its incumbent new owner and there is now plenty to be optimistic about moving forward. Let the good times roll folks!
