West Brom v Southampton predicted XI: Tom Fellows to be axed by Carlos Corberan
Carlos Corberan could make two changes to his West Brom starting XI ahead of a Championship clash with Southampton on Friday 16 February.
The Baggies will be hoping to build on yet another important victory over Cardiff City as they welcome the Saints to The Hawthorns.
A 2-0 win over the Bluebirds put clear daylight between the Baggies and Coventry City in the league, claiming their 15th win of the season.
Corberan will be aware of the danger being posed by the Saints, having been defeated in the reverse fixture in November, as William Smallbone and Adam Armstrong cancelled out Kyle Bartley’s goal.
Carlos Corberan cannot fix what is not broken
Due to Bartley’s recent injury news, the defence is unlikely to change after their clean sheet against Cardiff. Alex Palmer should keep his spot in between the sticks, making his 32nd start of the league season.
The centre-back partnership of Erik Pieters and Cedric Kipre was extremely impressive, albeit against a struggling opponent, and the duo could continue against Southampton.
Conor Townsend and Darnell Furlong have been mainstays this season under Corberan this season, with neither likely to shift from their spots in the starting XI.
Okay Yokuslu and Alex Mowatt have also been an ever-present duo in the West Brom squad. Nathaniel Chalobah could have a shout to replace one of them, having come off the bench against Cardiff and Ipswich Town, but Corberan will probably struggle to choose which one to axe.
West Brom to change the attack
Despite recording an assist, and being called “fantastic” by Tony Bown, on Wednesday, Tom Fellows could be dropped and replaced by Jed Wallace on the right flank. Wallace made an important impact as a substitute against Cardiff and assisted Andreas Weimann as the Baggies doubled their lead.

The Austrian was also a used substitute in the match, replacing John Swift in the attacking midfield spot. Corberan is predicted to go one step further by starting him ahead of Swift against Southampton.
After scoring within a minute, it would be difficult to see Mikey Johnston axed, even despite him being a new addition to the squad, with Brandon Thomas-Asante needing as much support as possible up front.
