West Brom confirmed XI v Southampton – Fellows axed as Diangana and Ajayi decisions made
Carlos Corberan has made one change to his West Brom side to face Southampton at The Hawthorns on Friday (16 February), as confirmed on the club’s official X account.
Forward Tom Fellows is the man to make way from the side that defeated Cardiff City 2-0 on Tuesday (13 February), with Jed Wallace returning to the starting XI.
Grady Diangana and Semi Ajayi have both now returned from the Africa Cup of Nations but the forward and centre-back are only named among the substitutes, with Fellows also on the bench for the Baggies.
Alex Palmer plays in goal behind a back four of Darnell Furlong, Cedric Kipre, Erik Pieters, Conor Townsend. Okay Yokuslu and Alex Mowatt start in midfield, while Swift, Mikey Johnston and Brandon Thomas-Asante make up the forward line alongside Wallace.
West Brom start Shilen Patel era against Southampton at The Hawthorns
Has there been anything to talk about the last 24 hours or so Baggies fans?
You know full well there has (as do I!).
Shilen Patel’s takeover of the club has finally been announced and exchange and completion is due to take place next week. It means the end of the Guochuan Lai era at The Hawthorns and there is sure to be a feelgood factor around the ground this evening.
What a statement it would be if the team can respond to this brilliant news by beating one of the best teams in the league in Southampton, who showed they are not infallible in the midweek 3-1 defeat to Bristol City.
Russell Martin’s side are still an absolutely formidable force in this league and it will need a great effort from Corberan’s men to take three huge points here this evening, but let’s hope the good news off the pitch can translate on it.
