West Brom fans will love double Shilen Patel admission as Hawthorns takeover news emerges
West Brom look to have finally put their current ownership nightmare behind them, with light now at the end of the tunnel at The Hawthorns.
As per the official West Brom website (15 February), Bilkul Football WBA, LLC has agreed to acquire an 87.8% shareholding in West Bromwich Albion Group Limited, the club’s parent company.
The new group’s ultimate owners, Shilen Patel and his father Dr Kiran C. Patel, should help bring about positive change at The Hawthorns.
The takeover will really excite fans, as will a double admission from serial investor Shilen Patel, who is also set to become Chairman in this new regime.
“I am thrilled and grateful to have reached an agreement to become the custodian of West Bromwich Albion Football Club,” Patel told the official West Brom website (15 February). “The club’s exceptional history, support, and potential set it apart even here in the cradle of football.
“My goal is to help the club achieve a future worthy of its history as a pioneering top-flight club that marshals the pride and passion that have defined the Albion for generations.”
West Brom fans surely over the moon
Firstly, Albion fans will be thrilled that Patel has exclaimed that their club is apart from all the rest, while they will be even more delighted with his future plans.
Those plans will undoubtedly involve major investment at The Hawthorns, with promotion back to the Premier League surely the main goal in mind at this moment in time, at least in the short term.
Given the lengthy process required to complete the takeover, manager it is largely on Carlos Corberan and his players to achieve that this season.

And they are giving it a very good go, with the Baggies currently fifth place in the Championship table. Up next is a meeting with third-place Southampton, with The Hawthorns hosting that clash on Friday (16 February).
In other West Brom news, Scott Sinclair has sent a message to one Baggies star after what he did in the win against Cardiff.
