West Brom: Doctor shares injury news on Grady Diangana ahead of Plymouth clash
West Brom attacker Grady Diangana is yet to return to full match fitness so may not be starting v Plymouth on 20 February, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The 25-year-old returned to the first team with an appearance off the bench against Southampton on 16 February, having missed every game since January 1 due to international responsibilities.
The injury expert claims that it will take him another game before he will be ready to start for Carlos Corberan’s side.
Speaking exclusively with West Brom News about Phillips’ situation, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said: “He has not played a lot for his country despite being out on international duty at the AFCON, playing 68 minutes since the start of January before returning to England.
“He will likely need a bounce match or two to regain sharpness and match fitness.
“He’s come off the bench in the last 25 minutes [v Southampton] so that’s a sign of him building his fitness and it’ll perhaps take another game before he’s ready to start again.“
Sensible approach for West Brom
Playing just 68 minutes in a month and the intensity of international football is also different so it makes sense to take it slow with him.
The Baggies have had a good January window so it’s not like risking Diangana back into action will be a gamble worth taking.

However, Corberan will still be delighted to have him back in the matchday squad and his ability to play in a number of positions makes him an important option to have on the bench as well.
