West Brom takeover news: Shareholders For Albion sent ‘Incredible’ message
Action for Albion’s Alistair Jones has praised Shareholders for Albion for their “incredible” efforts in protecting West Brom ahead of Shilen Patel’s 87.8 per cent takeover.
Baggies fans will be jumping for joy now that a deal has been agreed to remove current chairman and owner Guochuan Lai from The Hawthorns, even despite the 2-0 loss to Southampton on Friday 16 February.
Jones felt it was important to take notice of Shareholders For Albion’s impact on the process, who have been working tirelessly to protect the club that they all love.
Speaking live via TalkTV’s The Sunday Night Club (18 February, 2:28), he said: “We’ve dovetailed with Shareholders For Albion, and their Chairman Lee Kent has done an incredible job, long before our inception.
“They have been protecting our football club from the likes of Mr Lai consistently since 2016 when Jimmy Peace sold us down the river. Shareholders for Albion go under the radar a lot but their diligent work has been incredible.”
West Brom secure incredible takeover news
Every West Brom fan will remember exactly where they were, and what they were doing when Patel’s takeover was officially announced by the club.
As one of the most important days in the club’s recent history, Baggies fans have the right to feel excited about the future, especially when they are in with a chance of competing for Premier League promotion this season.
Carlos Corberan has done an amazing job at The Hawthorns, even despite the limited resources given to him by Lai. And now, with better backing, West Brom’s potential could skyrocket.

Fans have certainly been frightened about the future of their club for a very long time, with Lai taking loan after loan to keep the club afloat, making it possible to pay the staff and players. However, that horror story looks to be behind them with the most recent news.
West Brom fans can begin to look ahead, rather than worry about the debt-riddled consequences behind them, acquired through no fault of their own. It feels like the start of a new chapter at The Hawthorns.
In other West Brom news, agents have been trying to get into the new owner’s ear.
