Yann M’Vila West Brom debut update emerges ahead of Plymouth Argyle showdown

Yann M’Vila will not be part of the West Brom matchday squad to face Plymouth Argyle at Home Park after joining the Baggies, according to Joe Chapman.

The Birmingham Live journalist reported via X on Monday (19 February) that the French midfielder, who Albion have signed on a short-term deal until the end of the season, will not make his West Brom debut in Tuesday’s (20 February) clash.

M’Vila has been signed to provide further midfield cover after Jayson Molumby’s season came to a premature end through injury.

However, the 33-year-old is expected to require a bit of time to get up to speed having been without a club since the end of last season.

Can West Brom start Yann M’Vila against Plymouth Argyle?

West Brom and Carlos Corberan were keen to add to their midfield options during the January transfer window, so it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that Albion have been active via the free-agent market in February.

Molumby had just begun to find a consistent role in Corberan’s midfield when he picked up his injury. While M’Vila won’t be fit to feature against Plymouth, he will provide some much-needed midfield depth between now and the end of the campaign.

The 33-year-old has had an exceptional career and will bring some experience to the Baggies as they continue to push for the playoff places. Hopefully, it won’t be too long before supporters will see him in action in Albion colours.

Until then however, Corberan will likely continue with the midfield pairing of Okay Yokuslu and Alex Mowatt that has served him so well for the season so far, with Nathaniel Chalobah waiting in the wings in the event of injury.
