Tony Brown slams ‘poor’ Darnell Furlong after what he saw West Brom full-back do v Plymouth
Tony Brown slammed Darnell Furlong for a “poor” piece of play that almost cost West Brom against Plymouth Argyle.
Furlong played a terrible pass across his box but was bailed out by defensive team-mate Cedric Kipre at the expense of a corner.
West Brom ultimately saw out the danger, and they went on to claim a 3-0 victory in Tuesday’s (20 February) contest at Home Park.
Speaking on BBC Radio WM [20 Feb, 8:24pm], Brown said: “It’s poor play from Furlong. He put his team-mates in trouble. Kipre helps him out but he’s had to give away a corner.”
West Brom see off Plymouth Argyle
This sloppy piece of play five minutes before half-time could easily have cost West Brom, but thankfully other players – Kipre in particular – were alert.
Alex Palmer could only punch the subsequent corner and John Swift then let himself down with a heavy touch in a poor spell for the visitors.
Full credit to the players, though, because they put this error-strewn period to one side and pushed on in the second half on the South Coast.

In fairness, these momentary lapses of concentration have been few and far between from Albion’s players over the course of the season.
Carlos Corberan’s men have not been at their very top levels of late, but this was a much-needed return to winning ways in the Championship.
Plymouth were poor, but Albion still had to find a way to get the job done. And get the job done they did.
