West Brom: Carlos Corbern must make big call after confirmed Yann M’Vila deal at The Hawthorns

West Brom have had a fantastic Championship campaign to date, with the Baggies currently sitting fifth in the table.

Things could, of course, have been much better had the Albion been more clinical in certain matches, but Carlos Corberan cannot have too many complaints in general.

The competition is, however, only going to get more difficult as the business end of the season approaches.

West Brom have not been immune to injuries given this busy schedule, with star striker Daryl Dike recently joining the list of players sidelined.

Another such player is midfield ace Jayson Molumby, with his absence undoubtedly leading to the club bringing in reinforcements in the form of Yann M’Vila.

As per the official West Brom website (19 February), the 33-year-old has moved to The Hawthorns on a deal until the end of the season.

His arrival means Corberan now has a big decision to make in terms of his starting XI, with the new signing potentially immediately coming into the team given his experience and indeed the fact that he worked with the manager during their time at Olympiacos in 2022.

But bringing him in likely means removing either Okay Yokuslu or Alex Mowatt, two players who have been crucial for the Baggies this season.

They have been heavily relied upon by Corberan, with Molumby out injured and Nathaniel Chalobah largely playing a back-up role.

As per Transfermarkt, only goalkeeper Alex Palmer and defenders Cedric Kipre and Darnell Furlong have played more minutes for the Albion this season.

Will Corberan rotate his West Brom midfield?

Rotation will definitely be needed amid the busy schedule, meaning M’Vila is likely to be handed starts between now and the end of the season.

But Baggies boss Corberan would be foolish to upset his reliable duo of Mowatt and Yokuslu, who should still be the main pairing in midfield despite the new arrival at The Hawthorns.
