West Brom employee shares if Shilen Patel in attendance for Championship clash v Plymouth
West Brom owner Shilen Patel will not be at Home Park for the Baggies’ Championship clash with Plymouth Argyle, according to Gez Mulholland.
The West Brom employee shared via his X account on Tuesday (20 February) that the American businessman who was in attendance at The Hawthorns for Albion’s defeat to Southampton has not made the trip to the South West.
Patel has agreed to acquire the 87.8 per cent stake in West Bromwich Albion Group Limited, the parent company of the Baggies (official website, 15 February), with the takeover already receiving approval from the EFL.
Will Shilen Patel be at West Brom showdown with Plymouth Argyle?
There has been a feel-good factor around The Hawthorns ever since it was announced that Patel would be set to take over at Baggies and for the right reason as it marks the start of a bright new era for West Brom.
Plenty of supporters watched eagerly to see the American businessman during the defeat to Southampton, but they will not be able to do the same at Home Park, as Patel hasn’t made the trip south.
It isn’t unusual for owners of football clubs to not travel to away games, particularly in midweek so supporters shouldn’t be at all concerned by this development, especially considering Lai’s poor attendance record during his tenure.
Supporters will be hoping that Carlos Corberan’s side can put in an improved performance at Home Park and get back to winning ways against Plymouth, even if their new owner won’t be there to watch the showdown.
