West Brom news: ‘Nasty’ Caleb Taylor injury update drops at Bolton
Ian Evatt has provided an injury update on West Brom defender Caleb Taylor during his six-month loan at Bolton Wanderers.
The 21-year-old was one of the most impressive performers during Bolton’s 2-1 victory against Cambridge United on Tuesday 20 February before being substituted before the half-time whistle.
Having joined the League One outfit during the January transfer window, Taylor looked to be taking the opportunity in his stride but could be sidelined following the injury.
Speaking to The Bolton News on Wednesday (21 February), Evatt revealed: “I don’t know how it wasn’t a free-kick at the very least, there were some baffling decisions again.
“It is a nasty injury. He has a really swollen ankle at the moment and it could be ligament damage but we will have to see how it settles.”

It would be a massive shame if Taylor were to be sidelined with a serious injury, with just six months to prove himself ready for Carlos Corberan’s team.
The 21-year-old is one of the most promising youngsters at The Hawthorns but is in desperate need of first-team experience, something that the Baggies are unable to offer him on a consistent basis.
When Kyle Bartley is fit, he and Cedric Kipre have come to create a formidable centre-back partnership. And even in his absence, 35-year-old Erik Pieters has proven he is still capable in the starting XI.
Considering this, a switch to the Wanderers looked like the best option for Taylor. The defender was thrown straight into the deep end, deputising in three consecutive draws in League One.
Having been dropped against Wycombe Wanderers and Charlton Athletic, Ivett brought him back to the starting XI for the Cambridge match but the lack of refereeing decisions seems to have hindered Taylor’s development with an injury.
West Brom fans will be hoping that the young centre-back can recover soon, and continue his important development before the end of the season.
