Hull City v West Brom: Sky Sports host predicts scoreline, shares Mikey Johnston verdict
David Prutton has predicted Hull City to beat West Brom when the two sides go head-to-head on Saturday (24 February).
Writing on the Sky Sports website on Thursday (22 February), the host said the Tigers are “looking hot right now” and that they could be looking higher than their current sixth place in the table, with the Baggies just one point and a place above them.
Despite admitting that Carlos Corberan looks to have recruited well in January, particularly with the signing of Mikey Johnston on loan from Celtic, he believes Albion could be “edged out” after predicting their promotion rivals to pick up a 2-1 victory.
“Hull are looking hot right now,” said Prutton. “They have some joyous attacking players in the likes of Jaden Philogene and Fabio Carvalho, and they showed against Southampton they are right up there with the best on their day. Sixth is their spot to lose at the minute.
“They could even be looking a little higher, with West Brom a point and a place above them. It looks like Carlos Corberan recruited well in January, particularly bringing in Mikey Johnston from Celtic on loan. Things are looking up for the Baggies on and off the pitch, but I think they could be edged out here.”
West Brom looking for statement win against Hull City
This is a big game for both sides in their bid for promotion as a defeat could be damaging to their hopes of finishing in the playoff places come May.
The pressure is firmly on as the pair currently occupy what looks to be the only two spots still up for grabs in the top six after the four teams above them have built up a healthy gap.
Hull will likely be looking to take the game to West Brom and stamp their authority as the home team, potentially creating opportunities for the likes of Johnston on the counter.

The Baggies should be coming into the clash full of confidence on the back of their excellent 3-0 victory over Plymouth Argyle on 20 February, where the Republic of Ireland international scored a superb goal.
The 24-year-old winger has shown signs he could play a key role in Albion’s promotion push over the next few months and he’ll be looking to make an impression again in East Yorkshire.
