West Brom: Delay emerges in Shilen Patel takeover in new ratification update at The Hawthorns
West Brom have suffered a slight delay over the ratification of Shilen Patel’s takeover, with the deal now expected to be completed next week, according to Joe Chapman.
The Birmingham Live journalist reported via X on Friday (23 February) that while the deal remains on track, the different timezones between the UK and the US have meant that it has taken longer than initially expected.
Patel and his company Bilkul Football WBA, LLC were originally expected to complete their handover this week after agreeing to acquire an 87.8 per cent stake in West Bromwich Albion Group Limited, but that no longer appears to be the case.
Posting on X, Chapman wrote: “Regarding ratification of West Brom sale – understand it’s still on track. Because it’s being worked on across differing time zones, it’s taken a little longer than anticipated. Expect it to be next week now.”
When will West Brom complete their takeover?
West Brom supporters would have been anxiously waiting for news that Patel had finalised his takeover and completed his handover all week, but it seems as though Albion fans will have to wait just a few days more.
It was always going to be hard to get the final details of this deal over the line due to the various barriers in place that could hold up proceedings, but it seems as though everything at The Hawthorns is heading in the right direction.
While Albion were unable to put on a show for their new owner when he attended their Championship defeat to Southampton, they would have given him a glimpse of just what they’re capable of from afar against Plymouth Argyle.
Hopefully, they can do the same against Hull City on Saturday (24 February) and maintain their playoff push as they give their supporters something to look forward to as they await for an official handover of power.
