West Brom: Carlos Corberan must bring on Andi Weimann at HT v Hull, he may provide cutting-edge
Carlos Corberan must bring on Andreas Weimann at half-time in the West Brom game against Hull City on Saturday (24 February).
The Austrian international was dropped to the bench for the clash against the Tigers after starting in the 3-0 victory over Plymouth Argyle on 20 February.
The 32-year-old did a decent job of leading the line for Albion against the Pilgrims in place of the injured Brandon Thomas-Asante.
But Corberan decided to make changes for the game against Hull as he looks to secure a victory over one of his side’s promotion rivals.
Grady Diangana and Mikey Johnston, who scored a superb goal against Argyle in midweek, were drafted into the starting lineup as Weimann dropped out of the side.
It meant Jed Wallace was charged with leading the line for the Baggies, but it didn’t quite work in the first half as he doesn’t have that natural striker’s instinct.
While Weimann has become more of a winger over the past few years, he certainly still knows how to play up front on the back of his performance against Plymouth.
The Austrian could be just the man to come on and help his side win the game after Darnell Furlong’s late equaliser levelled things up after an excellent, long-range strike from Fabio Carvalho gave Hull the lead, with the scoreline 1-1 at the break.
He’s scored two goals and laid on one assist in his five games for the club after making the move from Bristol City on loan in the January transfer window.
Weimann could replace Diangana after he had a fairly poor first half operating in an attacking midfield role as he’s used to playing more out wide.

The 25-year-old recorded just a 50 per cent pass accuracy in the opening 45 minutes, having touched the ball just nine times [SofaScore].
The DR Congo international also failed to win any of his five duels, while his one shot went off target at the MKM Stadium.
There is no doubt that Weimann would be a better option leading the line than Wallace, with the skipper able to drop back into a more familiar midfield role if the Austrian were to come on.
He could provide the difference and help his side pick up an invaluable three points in East Yorkshire.
