West Brom: Rob Earnshaw destroys ‘lettuce wrists’ Alex Palmer for what he did v Hull City
West Brom goalkeeper Alex Palmer has been slammed by Rob Earnshaw for having “lettuce wrists” during the Baggies’ clash with Hull City.
Carlos Corberan’s side impressed at the MKM Stadium as they played out a 1-1 draw on Saturday (24 February) after falling behind in the first half as Fabio Carvalho opened the scoring from long-range.
The Liverpool loanee’s opener came from a short corner which caught the Albion defence napping and Sky Sports pundit Earnshaw was quick to destroy Palmer for failing to keep the strike out of the net.
Speaking on Sky Sports Main Event (24 February, 13:25) he said: “They’re all sleeping. Everybody falls asleep. Carvalho looks around and sees that the defence has fallen asleep and they’re deep and then he says okay if I receive the ball, I’m shooting here.
“Once he hits this shot, Palmer actually gets there, but I’ve got to question him because once you get there and you’re a goalkeeper, those lettuce wrists, you have to get there and save it. Poor goalkeeping.”
Can West Brom win promotion this season?
West Brom were nowhere near their best against Hull, unlike their meeting with Plymouth, but they still created several excellent chances and on the whole, were perhaps unlucky to not claim all three points against the Tigers on Saturday.
Corberan’s side were caught sleeping by Carvalho and they simply had to react quicker to try and stop the Portuguese midfielder’s effort. While some blame has to fall on Palmer, his defenders needed to close the ball down quicker.

Albion have prided themselves on keeping clean sheets this season and if they want to maintain that habit in the final months of the season, they will have to cut out these sort of silly mistakes sooner rather than later.
Hopefully, it was just a single moment of madness from the Baggies’ backline as for the most part they were solid during their showdown with Hull.
In other West Brom news, Corberan has lifted the lid of his initial talks with new Baggies owner Shilen Patel at The Hawthorns
