West Brom: Tony Brown reacts to Brandon Thomas-Asante news live from Hull

Tony Brown believes it’s a “massive blow” for West Brom that Brandon Thomas-Asante is set to miss up to five weeks with a hamstring injury.

Speaking on BBC Radio WM ahead of the Baggies’ game against Hull City on Saturday (24 February, 12:09am), the pundit admitted the problem for Carlos Corberan’s side is that all the recent injuries seem to have been to strikers following the 25-year-old’s issue.

He said the injuries are all long-lasting ones rather than just being a few days or a couple of weeks, adding that Albion need their frontmen as they go in pursuit of promotion this season.

“It’s a massive blow isn’t it,” said Brown. “We’ve spoke about the injuries before, but they’ve had a skinful of injuries. But they all seem to be to strikers, that’s the problem. It’s come one after the other, we’ve just got strikers fit and back playing again, all of a sudden they’ve got injuries.

“They’re not just injuries that last a few days or a couple of weeks, they’re long-lasting injuries. That’s a massive blow to Carlos Corberan because you need your frontmen, you need your goals for that push until the end of the season to try and get promotion.”

West Brom can’t catch injury break

It’s yet another blow for West Brom to add to the number of injuries that attacking players have suffered this season.

It feels like none of their forwards have been free from any issues during this campaign, leaving Corberan short on options at various different points.

While Thomas-Asante’s injury will stretch the Baggies’ squad once again over the next few weeks, the Spanish boss will try and find a way to adapt, something he’s done incredibly well this season.

He will just be hoping the goals don’t dry up for his side as, even though the forward isn’t the most prolific in front of goal, he puts in tireless work every week leading the line.

They have already overcome several challenges this season and the Albion boss will be confident they can do it again in their bid to achieve promotion.
