West Brom v Hull City: Don Goodman slams ‘disappointing’ Mikey Johnston live on Sky Sports

West Brom star Mikey Johnston was slammed by Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman during the first half of the clash versus Hull City.

The attacker produced superb footwork to create the opening at the MKM Stadium, only to drag his effort wide.

The Championship encounter on Saturday (24 February) finished 1-1, with Darnell Furlong cancelling out Fabio Carvalho’s opener.

“It’s brilliant, and there’s a part of you that feels he’s done the hard bit in sitting the defenders down,” Goodman said live on Sky Sports Football (12.50pm, 24 February).

“The movement of Diangana is good, it opens up the space for Johnston to get that ball on his right foot, but he just drags it horribly. He’s under a little bit of pressure, he’s nowhere near the target, that’s the disappointing thing.”

Mikey Johnston flying high at West Brom

Johnston has been an immediate hit under Carlos Corberan, with the attacker producing several top displays since joining from Celtic in the winter transfer window.

His pace and direct running have been tricky for defenders to deal with, and that was certainly the case at the MKM Stadium.

Unfortunately for the Baggies, the Republic of Ireland international is only on loan at The Hawthorns, although it does remain to be seen what exactly his parent club have planned come the end of the season.

He would undoubtedly be a welcome addition at West Brom on a permanent basis, but for now he must simply get on with the task at hand as the Albion continue their search for promotion back to the Premier League.

Carlos Corberan has been praised for the job he’s done at West Brom

Corberan may leave the MKM Stadium with questions to be asked of his players, but overall the man in the dugout should be pleased about taking a point back to the Midlands.
