Tom Ross reacts to West Brom takeover update amid Premier League verdict

Tom Ross has reacted after Shilen Patel’s takeover at West Brom was officially confirmed on Wednesday 28 February.

The Midlands broadcaster has suggested that the Baggies can now “move on with confidence” after Guochuan Lai’s torrid ownership at The Hawthorns.

West Brom confirmed the news via its official X account (28 February) and Ross was extremely happy and is hopeful that the club can return to the Premier League soon.

Writing via his X account on Wednesday (28 February), Ross said: “Great news for Baggies fans as the reign of Guochan Lai comes to a welcome end.

“The club is now officially owned by Shilen Patel. The club can now move forward with confidence, and hopefully back to the Premier League sooner rather than later.”

Shilen Patel provides major boost for West Brom

West Brom fans have streamed to the club’s official post to provide their instant reaction to the update, with so many unbelievably excited, and rightly so.

It seems like the beginning of a new era at The Hawthorns, especially after the exit of Lai from the club, after many failed attempts to get back to the Premier League.

Fans have been patiently waiting for the news of Patel’s takeover at The Hawthorns, and although it has been all but sealed for a while, it may still not seem real to some who have suffered in recent years.

Permanent transfers have been hard to come by in recent seasons, with funds also spared at The Hawthorns, but Carlos Corberan will be able to start building his squad as he sees fit.

The news will provide West Brom with a major boost in the run-in to the end of the season, with a playoff spot the most likely finish for the Baggies.

With Hull City, Norwich City and Preston North End hot on their heels, Corberan’s players need to take inspiration from the takeover and push for Premier League promotion.
