West Brom: Shilen Patel sends fans message after takeover deal completed at The Hawthorns
Shilen Patel has sent a message to West Brom fans after the takeover deal was finally completed at The Hawthorns, apologising for the delays in the confirmation.
The official West Brom X account confirmed on 28 February that Patel had officially acquired an 87.8% shareholding, therefore officially completing the takeover.
Patel shared his delight at the deal getting over the line, and his honour at joining the Baggies, in a new message to the supporters on social media.
Taking to X following the announcement of the takeover deal, Patel shared: “Apologies Baggies fans for not being able to respond or confirm sooner.
“I’m thrilled for the deal to finally be confirmed! I’m not very active on social media and the best stuff is always coming from West Brom [X account] but I wanted to say hello and that I’m honoured to be joining the Albion family. COYB.”
Shilen Patel finally completes West Brom takeover
With the news that the takeover has finally been completed, Albion fans can breathe a collective sigh of relief that the club is finally free of the Guochuan Lai era, with hopes high for the future at The Hawthorns.
The message from Patel is a classy touch to get his tenure underway, immediately making contact with the fans who had felt so withdrawn under the previous ownership with the lack of communication a major issue for Baggies supporters.
Hopes at West Brom are now higher than they have been in ages, with aims of promotion to the Premier League being mooted, with that type of success always a key part of any new takeover deal.
Lots of work is still to be done, however, with the wage bill at The Hawthorns still in desperate need of a reduction, and several players’ contracts set to expire at the end of the season – some of whom will need renewing and others culling.
This season, however, the focus remains on seeing out a successful end to their Championship campaign under new stewardship, with the collective excitement at The Hawthorns sure to provide a welcome boost.
In other West Brom news, a permanent deal has been mooted for Mikey Johnston.
