West Brom: Adrian Goldberg shares Carlos Corberan worry after what Jurgen Klopp said
Adrian Goldberg is worried Jurgen Klopp might have tipped Liverpool off about West Brom manager Carlos Corberan.
The former BBC Radio WM journalist was responding to a video posted on Twitter, where Jurgen Klopp namechecked the Baggies in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday (27 February) ahead of his side’s FA Cup clash against Southampton.
The German, who is set to leave the Merseysiders after nine years at the end of the season, admitted he has seen a number of Championship matches lately and has been impressed by what he has seen from Albion, adding that they have a “real football-playing idea”.
“I love the Championship,” said Klopp (via the Daily Mail’s Lewis Steele). “I watched Leeds against Leicester last week. Wow.
“The football intensity in the Championship is absolutely insane. I saw West Brom recently, a real football-playing idea. Ipswich as well. The league is incredibly difficult.”
Responding to Klopp’s comments, Goldberg said: “Just worried he’s tipped off Liverpool about Carlos.”
No Carlos Corberan worries just yet for West Brom
There isn’t really anything to worry about for West Brom fans just yet with regards to Corberan potentially leaving the club.
While Goldberg was probably joking to some degree, there will be interested onlookers who will have been impressed by the job the Spaniard has done under incredibly difficult circumstances.
The Albion boss is no doubt clearly committed to his project at The Hawthorns and trying to get the club back up to the Premier League, but if they don’t achieve that this season, then there may be some interested parties keeping a close eye on his situation for the next campaign.
But achieving a return to the top flight is certainly not out of the question for the Baggies as they have been in the playoffs for most of the season and have competed well against just about everyone.
The news that Shilen Patel has now completed a takeover at the club should make Corberan’s life easier and will, hopefully, persuade him into sticking around in the West Midlands for some time to come.
In other West Brom news, a Tory MP has reacted as Albion takeover news has been confirmed.
