West Brom: Carlos Corberan to meet with Shilen Patel after takeover confirmed

Carlos Corberan has revealed that he will meet with new West Brom owner Shilen Patel in the coming days to discuss the direction and future of the club.

The Baggies boss shared that he has already been sending messages to Patel with communication between the pair already described as “very good”.

Corberan went on to explain the importance of establishing the direction the new owner wants to take the club in with regard to targets and resources as well as a long-term vision.

Speaking to Birmingham Live [29 February], the boss shared: “In the next day we will know exactly when we will meet together and start to talk. In the last week, I have sent some messages with him so I have had very good communication with him.

“The important thing is to have a direction – what are the targets? What are the resources? To have the possibility to develop what you want to in your club.

“It’s not just about the hours they spend in the club. It’s more about the vision for the club, the support, the resources they provide, and the investment that they make in general in terms of the club. I’m looking forward to working with him, the new owner, to develop everything we want to here.”

Will Carlos Corberan stay at West Brom after the takeover?

Rumours had previously been flying about the possibility that Patel would bring his own man to take charge at The Hawthorns, getting rid of Corberan at the earliest possible opportunity, but those rumours were quickly squashed.

Hopes are high following Patel’s arrival, with early promises made to Albion fans about communication, something that was sorely lacking under the previous ownership, as he has made his intentions clear from the start.

Those promises, as well as discussions surrounding promotion to the Premier League and a structured long-term plan for the club, are the best possible way for the new owner to get West Brom fans on his side.
