West Brom: Surprise Shilen Patel reports emerges after takeover at The Hawthorns

Dan Plumley has insisted he would be surprised if Shilen Patel was to replace Carlos Corberan at West Brom after his takeover was confirmed.

Earlier reports had suggested that Ivan Juric was in line to take the job, but that has since been denied by the new owner at The Hawthorns.

The football finance expert admitted that you have to let the season play out under Corberan, with any changes further down the line potentially more understandable.

“I would suggest so at the minute given the status of the club and where they are at,” he exclusively told West Brom News.

“We’re talking about a season that is coming to its climax and West Brom are firmly in the mix for the playoffs.

It just seems that positivity on the pitch which has not perhaps been there in the seasons gone by, I just don’t understand why you would shake that up right now.

If there are plans further forward and it doesn’t quite work out and they don’t get promoted, then maybe you say that is a time where you can part company with a manager, but I just don’t see it right now and you’ve got to let the season play out and see where the club ends up.

I’d be surprised if that’s in the offing so soon after a takeover given where West Brom are on the pitch at the moment.”

Carlos Corberan to leave West Brom?

Thankfully, the Spanish genius is going nowhere and we can now put all of these rumours to bed.

Corberan is now set to finally meet with Patel after everything was confirmed this week, and hopefully, they can plan a better path forward for everyone at the club.

In other West Brom news, Patel sent a message to Albion fans following the takeover.
