Carlos Corberan raves about what West Brom chief Mark Miles has done behind the scenes

Carlos Corberan has praised Mark Miles for his work behind the scenes as part of the West Brom takeover process.

Speaking to the Express & Star on Friday (1 March), the Albion boss said he “strongly appreciates” the job the club’s managing director has done in challenging the difficulties at The Hawthorns over the past few months.

The Spaniard revealed that Miles has allowed him to be completely focused on the football aspects at the club and to forget about anything out of his control, adding that the Albion chief has has done his best to help him with everything he needed to do his job.

“I have to be honest, from the first day I have been doing what a coach needs to do, which is prepare for the games and prepare the squad based on the financial possibilities of the club,” said Corberan when asked about his relief at the takeover being completed.

“The job other people, especially the one Mark Miles has been doing, is to challenge the difficulties of the club. I have been completely out of that process. That is why I strongly appreciate what Mark has done, how hard he is working.

“He has allowed me to be completely focused on the football aspects and forget completely anything out of my control. In every moment he has allowed me to distract myself. Every type of need, he has made his best to cover it, whatever we needed to help cover our job.

“That’s the thing I have found in this club – a lot of honesty from the first day, a lot of support and this is key too.”

Carlos Corberan and all West Brom staff pulled together

It certainly hasn’t just been a one-man effort in helping West Brom have a successful season so far as they go in pursuit of promotion to the Premier League.

It’s often forgotten that there is so much hard work that goes on behind the scenes from several people and it sounds as though Miles has definitely made life easier for the Albion boss.

It can’t have been easy for the Baggies managing director over the past few months, but he has played his role in ensuring the takeover got over the line and the club can now move forward.

The Athletic reported on Thursday (29 February) that new majority shareholder Shilen Patel intends to keep Miles at The Hawthorns and that he will take care of the day-to-day running of the club.

Corberan will now be looking to ensure all that hard work pays off as he continues to mount a promotion push after a promising past few months on the pitch.
