West Brom: Chris Lepkowski floored after what Mikey Johnston did v Coventry
Chris Lepkowski was left gushing over Celtic loanee Mikey Johnston after his goal for West Brom v Coventry.
The Baggies hosted Coventry at Hawthorns on 1 March and Johnston, who moved to the Baggies on loan from Celtic in January, scored a brilliant goal.
He received the ball on the left wing, cut inside and struck it perfectly into the back of the net which was the first of the two goals as the Baggies won 2-1.
Via Twitter, Lepkowski, a former Birmingham Mail employee, wrote: “Johnston developing a trademark. Johnston making a real impact. Great signing so far.”
Johnston can guide West Brom to promotion
West Brom’s success hinges on astute recruitment, especially given their financial constraints.
With limited resources, securing the loan signing of Johnston from Celtic was a strategic move.
The negotiation process likely involved convincing Celtic of the Baggies’ suitability as an ideal environment for Johnston.
Carlos Corberan’s influence in attracting Johnston to the club cannot be understated.
His vision and persuasive skills played a pivotal role in clinching the deal.
Johnston’s immediate impact on the pitch underscores the importance of the recruitment decision.
His goal against Coventry showcased his talent and added dynamism to West Brom’s attacking options.
With Johnston’s contribution, the Baggies’ prospects of securing a playoff spot and perhaps even promotion have significantly improved.
Hopefully, he can keep this going right until the end of the campaign.
In other West Brom news, a once exit-bound Baggies player is now likely for a Hawthorns stay as a contract twist has emerged recently.
