West Brom submit Guochuan Lai document to Companies House as second exit now confirmed
West Brom have submitted Guochuan Lai and Ke Xu’s termination of employment documents to Companies House as Shilen Patel’s takeover becomes more official.
The Baggies announced in an official statement in February that Patel and his company Bilkul Football WBA, LLC had agreed on a deal to acquire Lai’s controlling stake in the Baggies at The Hawthorns, with the handover completed on Wednesday (28 February).
Alongside Lai, Xu (more commonly known as Ken by supporters) has had documents confirming the termination of his employment at The Hawthorns logged on Friday (1 March). Xu had been a director for the Baggies but has left Albion alongside Lai.

There are few less popular figures in football than Lai and Xu at The Hawthorns and West Brom supporters have made their feelings known about the pair and it will be a relief that their time with the Baggies has officially come to an end.
While Patel will not be able to throw money around following his takeover at The Hawthorns, with financial fair play rules restricting the Baggies’ business, it seems certain that he will be able to make positive steps to help Carlos Corberan’s side financially.
Under the Spanish manager’s leadership, Albion have managed to exceed most supporters’ expectations and mount a serious push for the playoff places this season. While they haven’t cemented their place in the playoffs yet, most pundits expect them to finish in the top six.
Hopefully, now that the official documentation has been submitted and official statements have been made from all parties, West Brom fans will be able to look forward to and enjoy a new era under Patel’s ownership.
