Nigel Quashie drools over West Brom boss Carlos Corberan after what he saw

Nigel Quashie was left drooling over West Brom boss Carlos Corberan after what he saw following the 2-1 win over Coventry City.

The Baggies claimed all three points at The Hawthorns thanks to goals from loanee Mikey Johnston and Grady Diangana, to push themselves further into the playoff spots.

And after the CoachesVoice Twitter account posted that Corberan is one of only two coaches in the Championship this season not to have spent a penny on transfers, Quashie took to his own account (2 March) to praise the job the Spaniard has done.

“This is what real coaching and man management is all about,” he wrote.

“Don Carlos.”

West Brom have the Championship manager of the year

Whether West Brom get promoted to the Premier League automatically, via the playoffs or not at all, Corberan has a fantastic shout for being the manager of the year.

This is the third year the club has been in the second tier which means they lost their parachute payments, and there were big financial problems that limited what he was able to do in the transfer window.

He has relied on loan transfers and free agents to bolster the squad, and he’s also managed to adapt to deal with the several waves of injury issues the team has had.

Yet despite all of that the team has never really dropped away from the promotion hunt at any point and they continue to pick up vital points during a crucial part of the season.

Baggies fans will be terrified any time a Premier League club sacks their manager in the near future because Corberan has proven himself to be able to step up, but they will be hoping he gets there with them instead.

In other West Brom news, Corberan shares “optimistic” injury update on senior attackers.
