West Brom keeper Josh Griffiths may leave amid transfer news from Hawthorns

West Brom goalkeeper Josh Griffiths may not be at the club beyond the end of the season, according to Football League World.

The news outlet reported on 2 March that with Alex Palmer likely to be the number one for the foreseeable future, Griffiths’ lack of game time may see him leave the Hawthorns.

It’s understood that the 22-year-old remains “highly rated” among the hierarchy at the Baggies.

A West Brom exit may be on the cards for Griffiths

West Brom and Carlos Corberan undoubtedly value Griffiths’ talent and potential but they also understand the importance of players seeking regular playing time, especially at a critical juncture in their careers.

Despite their desire to keep the 22-year-old as a backup option, the reality of his limited opportunities behind the impressive Palmer means that Griffiths may feel compelled to seek opportunities elsewhere.

Corberan and the club management recognise the significance of players feeling valued and having a clear pathway to the first team.

If Griffiths sees his chances of breaking into the starting lineup as slim, they would understand his decision to pursue a move elsewhere, whether on loan or permanently.

While it may be disappointing for the club to potentially lose a promising talent like Griffiths, they prioritise the players’ career development and well-being.

Moreover, a permanent exit could also benefit both parties financially, allowing the Baggies to secure a decent transfer fee for Griffiths with his deal running out in 2025, which could be reinvested in strengthening other areas of the squad.

In other West Brom news, a £1.58billion claim has emerged as Shilen Patel completes the takeover to become the new Baggies chairman.
