West Brom: Scott Sinclair reacts after what Celtic loanee Mikey Johnston did v Coventry City

West Brom winger Mikey Johnston has been sent a new message by former Celtic teammate Scott Sinclair following his goal in the Baggies’ win over Coventry City.

Carlos Corberan’s side tightened their grip on a spot in the playoff places this season with an excellent 2-1 win over the Sky Blues on Friday (1 March) thanks to first-half goals from Celtic loanee Johnston and Grady Diangana.

The Ireland international has now scored three goals in seven Championship appearances since arriving on loan from Parkhead this season and appears to be enjoying his time playing under Corberan’s management at The Hawthorns.

Posting on Instagram on Saturday (2 March) he wrote: “Three points. West Brom enjoying myself”. Johnston’s former Celtic teammate Sinclair, now of Bristol Rovers, was quick to reply simply with two fire emojis.

Can West Brom sign Mikey Johnston permanently from Celtic this summer?

Johnston has been a revelation for West Brom in the second half of the Championship season and it felt like almost everything the 24-year-old has touched has turned to gold since he arrived at The Hawthorns.

His goals against Plymouth and Coventry in particular were superb as he cut in onto his right foot before curling an excellent effort into the top-right corner for both strikes. At his best, he is clearly capable of moments of magic.

Mikey Johnston has impressed since arriving at West Brom.

If he maintains this impressive run of form between now and the end of the season, the Baggies will surely want to secure his services on a permanent basis, but it remains to be seen whether both Albion and Celtic could reach an agreement.

Many pundits and journalists have suggested that Johnston’s time at Parkhead is up and should that be the case, Albion should be doing all that they can to secure the 24-year-old’s signature permanently this summer.
