Shilen Patel sends message after West Brom Women result v Huddersfield Town Women
West Brom chairman Shilen Patel has congratulated West Brom Women following their 2-1 win over Huddersfield Town Women.
Francesca Orthodoxou and Jess Reavil put Albion in control with a goal apiece in the first half of Sunday’s (4 March) contest.
Huddersfield pulled one back from the penalty spot, but the Baggies saw out a win that moves them eighth in the table.
Patel, who officially completed his takeover at The Hawthorns last week, posted on his personal Twitter page [3 March]: “Great job & great result.”
Shilen Patel settling in nicely at The Hawthorns
Patel has wasted no time at all in getting his feet under the desk at The Hawthorns after ending Guochuan Lai’s time at the helm last week.
The American businessman has already taken in some of the senior men’s matches and he clearly has an eye on how the women are getting on.
Whoever replaced Lai was going to instantly be an improvement, but Patel is already seemingly going above and behind to win over fans.
It was another positive weekend for Albion’s men’s and women’s sides, as the former saw off Coventry City 2-1 late on Friday (1 March).
Patel will not want to get too far ahead of himself, but the future is looking incredibly bright for both at this point.
Given the fickle nature of football fans, though, many will reserve judgement until Patel’s first transfer window at the helm. Money, after all, is the true way to anyone’s heart.
In other West Brom news, the thoughts of Patel have been shared on Carlos Corberan amid recent suggestions the manager’s job is under threat.
