West Brom: Carlos Corberan set for Shilen Patel talks after London update
West Brom boss Carlos Corberan is set to hold face-to-face talks with new owner Shilen Patel after the Baggies’ Championship clash with Queens Park Rangers, according to the Express & Star.
The newspaper reported via their website on 6 March that Patel will be in attendance in West London after he visited The Hawthorns to watch the 2-0 defeat to Southampton.
Corberan spoke of his delight in having the support of the new owner which he insists will help to increase the togetherness between the staff, players and fans.
“With any type of doubt, to have this support is positive for everyone, to create this togetherness between the owner and the players and the fans,” said the boss [6 March].
“It’s very positive because he is taking care honestly of the club. After this, we’ll have time. Before the game we like to, and he understands, be fully focused on the game.”
Carlos Corberan and Shilen Patel provide a boost for West Brom
Corberan has received high praise throughout this season for his work in admittedly difficult circumstances given the ownership situation at The Hawthorns, but with Patel’s arrival comes increased certainty and direction for the club.
Currently sitting in the playoff places, they will be keen to keep up their form this season to put themselves in with a chance of promotion to the Premier League despite the most unlikely of circumstances before the season began.
That playoff place, even if promotion doesn’t come as a result of it, could be particularly lucrative for West Brom and could prove crucial to their financial situation which is already proving difficult to manage.

With several players out of contract at the end of the season, it has been suggested multiple could leave in an attempt to cut the wage budget down, but the financial boost that could come with a playoff place will put them in a stronger position.
In other West Brom news, Mo Faal may regret his move away from the club already.
