West Brom: Don Goodman wowed by ‘incredible’ Mikey Johnston moment v QPR, ‘thing of beauty’

Don Goodman was wowed by what Mikey Johnston did in the West Brom game against QPR on Wednesday (6 March).

Speaking on Sky Sports Main Event on Wednesday (08:25pm), the pundit said it was a “thing of beauty” from the Republic of Ireland international as he found the back of the net from outside the box, giving Rs keeper Asmir Begovic no chance.

He added that the 24-year-old winger’s strike was “unstoppable” as he continued his impressive form since signing for Albion on loan from Celtic in the January transfer window.

“The goal against Plymouth was magnificent, the goal against Coventry was even better and he has just topped the lot here,” said Goodman. “The other two he gets the ball, he cuts inside and bends them into the far corner.

“This is different in that he fizzes it into that near corner and I just wonder if Asmir Begovic is expecting it to go to the far corner.

“It doesn’t really matter, even if he wasn’t, no goalkeeper is ever going to stop this. It’s a thing of beauty, it’s a stunner, it is unstoppable. Incredible.”

The Baggies were pegged back in a 2-2 draw in what was an incident-packed fixture at Loftus Road.

Mikey Johnston continues to impress for West Brom

It was another excellent effort from Johnston as he continues to add to his growing collection of unbelievable goals for West Brom.

The winger has made a huge impact since joining on loan from Celtic, raising questions about why the Scottish side didn’t want to keep hold of him in the second half of the campaign.

He also showed several lovely touches as he looks so comfortable in possession coming off the left-hand side and making things happen for Albion.

Carlos Corberan will be delighted by the impact he’s had for the club so far and will be hoping he continues this form throughout the rest of the season.

The Irishman could prove to be vital as the Baggies look to challenge for promotion heading into the final few months of the campaign.
