West Brom: Jonny Drury shares what happened to Mikey Johnston v QPR
Jonny Drury has shared what happened to Mikey Johnston after he was substituted during the West Brom game against Queens Park Rangers on Wednesday (6 March).
The Express & Star journalist tweeted on Wednesday that the Rs fans pelted the Republic of Ireland international with bottles as he walked around the edge of the pitch.
The 24-year-old winger scored for the Baggies in the first half, but his superb strike wasn’t enough to help secure three points for his side after the game ended 2-2 at Loftus Road.
“Johnston taken off and QPR fans pelting him with bottles as he walks around the edge of the pitch,” said Drury.
Unacceptable from QPR fans against West Brom
It’s clear that tensions were running high in the second half in what was an absorbing game of football between the two sides at Loftus Road.
But it is completely unacceptable for the QPR fans to throw objects at Johnston purely because he played for the team their side were facing.
The home supporters were riled up in the second half after Albion defender Cedric Kipre got away with what looked to be a blatant handball to stop a goal-bound effort.

But that doesn’t excuse abusing Johnston, who scored a stunning goal to bring his side level in the first half before Grady Diangana quickly put them ahead.
The Rs put in an excellent performance in the second half, though, with former Baggies midfielder Sam Field notching his second goal of the night to earn his side a point.
