West Brom: Reece Hall recalled from loan due to lack of game time, Carlos Corberan confirms
Carlos Corberan has revealed that West Brom youngster Reece Hall was recalled from his Hereford loan spell due to a lack of game time.
The 20-year-old midfielder joined the National League North outfit in December 2023, arriving on a month-long loan from the Baggies but was unable to make a single appearance for Hereford.
Hall was an unused substitute for two of Hereford’s four league matches that the midfielder was present at the club for and has since reclaimed the captain’s armband for West Brom’s youth team in Premier League 2.
Speaking to Birmingham Live on Wednesday (6 March), Corberan said: “Reece Hall. We sent him on loan and he has come back because he didn’t play, but part of his development is to have the experience where you’re not playing.
“It helps you to mature and helps you to grow. You don’t grow only when you play, you grow when you adapt your resources to the demands.”
Can Reece Hall step up for West Brom?
There will be an underlying disappointment that Hall was unable to make the desired impact at National League North level, having not made a single appearance and showing no signs of extending his month-long stay.
However, the youngster’s talent and potential are evident, taking the captain’s armband for the youth sides, leading his teammates to a 3-0 victory over Arsenal and a 1-1 draw with Southampton in recent matches.
Hall will remain on Corberan’s radar as a player who could potentially make the step up to the Baggies senior team, following in the footsteps of defensive prospect Caleb Taylor.
The 20-year-old was part of the squad for West Brom’s FA Cup defeat to Wolves and has also been in the matchday squad on two occasions in the Championship, which would suggest a senior debut is not miles away.
Though Corberan is clearly disheartened by the midfielder’s loan spell at Hereford, it could be a case of throwing him into the deep end when West Brom look comfortable in a league match.
