West Brom: Shilen Patel posts picture with ‘legend’ Tony Brown ahead of QPR clash

Shilen Patel posted a picture of himself with West Brom “legend” Tony Brown prior to Wednesday’s (6 March) clash with Queen’s Park Rangers.

Patel’s takeover at The Hawthorns was officially confirmed on 28 February (ESPN), with he and his father acquiring an 87.8& stake in the club.

Supporters will have taken to Patel even more after he posted on X a picture alongside Baggies great Brown, who scored over 200 league goals for the club and now works as a prominent pundit, prior to the game at Loftus Road.

He accompanied the picture with the caption: “Absolute honor to meet with West Brom legend Tony Brown ahead of tonight’s match! #COYB.”

Shilen Patel on the charm offensive at West Brom

West Brom supporters are still getting used to the fact that Guochuan Lai era is over at The Hawthorns and now brighter times might be on the horizon under Patel.

There is still even a big possibility that he could see his new side promoted this season with the Baggies flying high in the Championship table and looking to entrench their playoff spot against lowly QPR.

Patel is doing all the charm offensive and PR work and making friends with the likes of Baggies legend Brown is sure to stand him in good stead with the supporters.

Let’s hope that Patel, Brown and the club’s supporters are all celebrating three valuable points this evening as West Brom will still be keeping a nervous glance on the chasing pack in the race for the top six, though they were four points clear of Norwich City in seventh place prior to kick-off and have continued to maintain their playoff form under Carlos Corberan this term.
