West Brom star Darnell Furlong spotted in heated row with QPR fan as video footage emerges
West Brom right-back Darnell Furlong was spotted in a heated row with a QPR supporter at full-time after the 2-2 draw between the two Championship sides.
Carlos Corberan and his players were forced to settle for a point at Loftus Road on Wednesday evening (6 March).
Sam Field had given QPR the lead against his former side before two quickfire goals from Mikey Johnston and Grady Diangana put the Baggies in control, but Field was on hand once again to equalise for the Londoners late on in the second half.
Furlong denied his boyhood club from claiming all three points when he made a wonderful headed goalline clearance as Lews Cook’s spectacular overhead kick was sailing in.
And the action didn’t stop for Furlong after the final had blown as the 28-year-old was spotted exchanging words with an angry QPR supporter in a video posted to X by QueensPStranger (6 March).
No love for former QPR and current West Brom right-back Darnell Furlong at Loftus Road
This one particular QPR supporter clearly had very little interest in showing any love to his former player.
It is unclear what in particular set this fan off, but Furlong’s goalline clearance probably didn’t help and this was perhaps just a heat-of-the-moment reaction from both the player and supporter.
Toward the end of the video, a younger fan can be heard shouting Furlong’s name, to which the defender turned around and offered a thumbs up, suggesting that his relationship isn’t damaged with all of QPR’s supporters.
Furlong would have been feeling frustrated at full-time that his side were unable to grab all three points, although come the end of the season, the Baggies might look back on this point as a valuable one.
QPR dominated for large spells of the match, especially in the second half, and Corberan’s side were perhaps fortunate to come away with a draw, with Alex Palmer’s penalty save to thank as well as Furlong’s goalline clearance.
West Brom remain fifth in the Championship, now five points clear of seventh-placed Norwich, who were beaten 3-1 by Middlesbrough at Riverside Stadium on Wednesday (6 March).
