West Brom in contact with new company at The Hawthorns who want to invest heavily

Chris Lepkowski has shared that West Brom have been in contact with Macron to become the club’s new kit manufacturer, with the brand looking to “invest heavily” in English football.

The former Birmingham Mail journalist explained that the manufacturer views West Brom as an ideal club to add to their portfolio which already includes Crystal Palace and Stoke City.

It was reported by the Birmingham Mail in the summer that the current kit deal with Puma had an unknown expiry date, leading to questions, but it now appears Macron could take over.

Speaking on The Liquidator podcast [10 March], Lepkowski shared: “I’ve just been alerted to the fact that we have been in contact with Macron. I’m not aware that anything’s been signed yet, but that’s where everything is pointing at the moment.

“They’re looking to invest heavily in English football and they regard us as being an ideal club for their portfolio.”

Behind-the-scenes deal emerges at West Brom

It is important to reiterate that any potential deal with Macron has not been agreed upon or signed yet, so as things stand, Puma remains the club’s kit manufacturer.

Kit manufacturing deals can be lucrative sources of income for clubs, particularly the more high-end ones, and it can be assumed that any deal with Macron will be one that works for the club following the success of the Puma deal.

Albion have been partnered with Puma since 2018, but as the club looks to head in a new direction under the ownership of Shilen Patel following his takeover at The Hawthorns, it may be time for a fresh start all round.

In the six years under the Puma deal, it’s safe to say the kits were a mixed bag. The 2021/22, 2019/20 and current 2023/24 kits stand out as some of the best, while 2020/21’s attempt is better left unmentioned.

Fans will hope any deal with Macron sees some better kits than we have seen at The Hawthorns in previous years.
