West Brom Women: Siobhan Hodgetts-Still sends message to fans after draw v Burnley

West Brom Women boss Siobhan Hodgetts-Still has sent a message to the fans who turned up to watch her side draw 1-1 with Burnley at The Hawthorns on 10 March.

Albion looked to use the home crowd to their advantage with a more attacking display than we have seen in the past, taking the lead in the first half, before Burnley bounced back in the second.

Pheobe Warner, meanwhile, scored her first goal for the Albion at The Hawthorns in what she confessed was an “amazing” moment for her. [West Brom official website]

Taking to X after the result, the boss wrote: “A hard-earned point for us. Proud of the team’s performance. Thank you to everyone who showed up and supported us at The Hawthorns.”

The team was expected to receive a warm welcome and a boost from their supporters at The Hawthorns in their visit, and that is just what they got as the crowd helped them to a fast start and ultimately to secure an important point.

Having fallen to a 3-1 defeat when they faced Burnley in November, Hodgetts-Still’s side saw a marked improvement on the previous result and performance – something which has become a trend in recent weeks.

A penalty defeat against Wolves in the Birmingham County Challenge Cup also saw a recognisable improvement on former displays, with Warner sharing her pride in the team and what they had done despite the ultimate outcome.

Their next game at a men’s team’s stadium will come at the home of rivals Wolves as they travel to Molineux looking to take revenge for their 2-2 draw and subsequent defeat on penalties the last time the Black Country rivals met.
