West Brom: Darnell Furlong steps up recent performances amid emerging concern
Darnell Furlong has stepped up his performances for West Brom in recent weeks after the threat of a two-game suspension emerged at The Hawthorns.
Furlong had collected nine yellow cards of just ten allowed before he would have been forced to serve a suspension in what would have come as a harsh blow to Carlos Corberan’s side.
The deadline for the yellow card limit was the clash against Huddersfield, where Furlong avoided committing a single foul, with the limit now having risen to 15 for the rest of the season.

Across those four games, his overall performances have also stepped up, particularly in the 4-1 win against Huddersfield at the John Smith’s Stadium and the 2-2 draw with QPR at Loftus Road.
In that 4-1 win last time out, the right-back dominated in the air as he won 100 per cent of his aerial duels, five won from five attempted, which also contributed to his attacking display in the final third with one shot on target and another blocked.
Defensively, he also showed up with two clearances and one interception to help any pressure that built against his side in what proved to be a relatively comfortable showing in the end.

Against QPR, it proved a more difficult game overall, but despite some controversy after the final whistle, Furlong was among the most important players. Five clearances, two blocks, one interception and one tackle were a testament to his defensive abilities.
His ability to be disciplined and step up when Corberan needed him most has seen Furlong impress fans at The Hawthorns so far this season, and he will be hoping to keep up this run of form.
