West Brom: ‘Hugely frustrating’ Kal Naismith news emerges at Bristol City ahead of Albion clash
Bristol City will be without Kal Naismith when they face West Brom in the Championship after he suffered a fresh injury setback, according to Robins’ boss Liam Manning.
Carlos Corberan’s side welcome City to The Hawthorns on Saturday (16 March) as they look to build open their 4-1 win over Huddersfield Town and tighten their grip on a place in the Championship’s top six.
The Robins have only won one of their last five matches and will be without the experienced Naismith when they face the Baggies, but Manning did confirm that both Scott Twine and George Tanner could return to the starting XI.
As quoted by Bristol Live (14 March) he said: “He’s [Naismith] still not available, the medical staff have to go into the details of it. I think he’s had another setback which is hugely frustrating We’re hoping George Tanner is a bit closer, he did some training today so that’s the only major change.
“He’s [Twine] fully healed, some of it’s just because he’s been out for a while, it’s more the conditioning element; it’s not injury-related it’s just more fitness, obviously when you’ve missed the period that he has.
“He’s trained really well this week, I know his strengths and his qualities – we’ve seen it in the one game he has played – now it’s a case of, first and foremost, forcing his way back into the team.”
Will West Brom win promotion to the Premier League through the playoffs?
When these two sides met at the start of the season, they played out a frustrating stalemate that did very little to bolster either team’s chances of making the playoffs this season.
Only months down the line, Corberan’s Baggies look as though they will almost certainly finish in the top-six this season, while Manning’s Bristol City are almost certainly destined for a midtable finish unless something drastically changes.

Andi Weimann won’t be able to play against his former side which could be a blow to Albion’s chances, but with Brandon Thomas-Asante returning from injury against Huddersfield, he should be ready to lead the line at The Hawthorns.
Hopefully, Corberan’s side will avoid a potential banana skin and will instead manage to put a gap between them and the chasing pack in the race for the playoffs this term.
