West Brom: Doctor shares Kyle Bartley fitness update post calf injury

West Brom defender Kyle Bartley faced up to months out in a worst-case scenario with his calf injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert assessed his return to action nearly a month after being out when he played 10 minutes against Coventry on 1 March.

However, Carlos Corberan then confirmed that he had sustained another injury which saw him missing the 6 March game against QPR.

The 32-year-old then played 75 minutes and scored a goal in the 4-1 victory against Huddersfield on 10 March.

Speaking exclusively with West Brom News about Bartley’s situation, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said:

“Based on the manager’s comments, it didn’t sound serious but anything with the calf can be tricky because it’s such a high demand and sensitive area.

“Further, this was a reinjury as well so that’s always a worry.

“The best case would have been just a niggle in the calf which is day to day whereas the worst case would’ve been a Grade 3 full rupture which is months out.

“However, it appears to be the former rather than the latter as he aims to return to 100 per cent.”

Bartley’s return is a huge boost for West Brom

Corberan has got the Baggies in a great place to challenge for promotion and he would want to have his best players available to him.

Bartley is undoubtedly an important first-team player, having played 27 Championship league games this term.
