West Brom: Matheus Pereira shares two-word message after official post today

Matheus Pereira has shared a two-word response after West Brom posted a video of the former Baggies star on Friday (15 March).

The 27-year-old became a fan favourite during his two seasons at The Hawthorns, playing for the Baggies between August 2019 and August 2021 and amassing 77 appearances.

Pereira initially came to the club on loan, with West Brom eventually making the transfer permanent and starring in the Premier League and Championship before moving to Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia.

Reacting to a video posted on the club’s official X account, the midfielder replied: “Good memory,” followed by heart eyes and a target.

Matheus Pereira created incredible memories for West Brom fans

Fans at The Hawthorns would have been extremely disappointed after news emerged in 2021 that Pereira was joining Al Hilal, having been one of the most exciting players in the Premier League despite being relegated to the Championship.

Though the Baggies finished in 19th place during the 2020/21 campaign, the Brazilian ended the season with 11 goals and six assists in 33 league appearances, tying with Raheem Sterling and Callum Wilson for goal involvements.

His performances came as no surprise to the top tier, however, leading the Championship’s list of top assisters with 16, as well as netting eight goals.

Pereira was a key player in claiming promotion back to the Premier League for the Baggies, although that, obviously, did not last long after going straight back down the following season.

His career has tailed off since leaving the Midlands, sadly, scoring just three goals for Al Hilal in 42 appearances and has been sent out on loan to Cruzeiro in Brazil this season.

Although nobody will ever know the answer, Pereira seems like a player who would thrive under Carlos Corberan and be able to play a vital part in their current season.

With the likes of Jed Wallace, Brandon Thomas-Asante, Grady Diangana and Mikey Johnston in the squad, the former star would be in dreamland with the amount of talent around him.

In other West Brom news, David Prutton singled out one Albion player as he offered his prediction for the match with Bristol City.
