West Brom: BBC journalist wowed by ‘splendid’ moment in 2-0 win v Bristol City

Pat Murphy was wowed by what the West Brom players did in the build-up to the second goal in the victory over Bristol City on Saturday (16 March).

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live on Saturday (04:11pm), the journalist said it was a “splendid move” as left-back Conor Townsend set up Albion captain Jed Wallace to score the second goal.

That strike arrived just five minutes into the second half after Tom Fellows had handed the Baggies the lead on the stroke of half-time, with Carlos Corberan’s side securing a 2-0 win at The Hawthorns.

“Another one for West Brom,” said Murphy. “The second one came from Wallace rolling it in after a splendid move. Fed by Johnson to Townsend, across the face of the goal, tap in from Wallace.”

West Brom take another step towards sealing playoff place

It was another excellent win for West Brom as they took another important step towards securing a place in the Championship playoffs this season.

While the first half wasn’t the best spectacle, it was a superb move that saw Wallace get on the scoresheet in what was his first goal at The Hawthorns since November.

The 29-year-old will be hoping that strike can be the first of many as he looks to have an important contribution towards proceedings over the next couple of months.

West Brom boss Carlos Corberan

Although the Albion captain often splits opinion, he did a decent job of leading the line as he helped his side move eight points above seventh-placed Hull City, who have a game in hand.

The Baggies will know that if they continue to keep picking up victories at home, then they should have a great chance of securing their place in the playoffs come May.
