West Brom: Sue Smith raves about ‘brilliant’ Grady Diangana v Bristol City
Sue Smith has raved about Grady Diangana after what he did for West Brom in the 2-0 Championship win against Bristol City at The Hawthorns.
The Sky Sports pundit was stunned by the forward’s first touch, which she described as “brilliant” despite insisting he should have scored to make it 3-0 to Carlos Coberan’s side.
Diangana has found a good run of form lately with two goals and one assist in his last three games, earning him high praise for his role at The Hawthorns.
Speaking live on Sky Sports News [16 March, 16:43], Smith gushed: “West Brom should have made it 3-0, Diangana. Brilliant first touch, the ball’s looped up and his first touch is superb, he’s one-on-one with the goalkeeper and he just takes a little bit too long.
“Vyner comes back and puts the challenge in, but it’s still 2-0 to West Brom.”
West Brom beat Bristol City 2-0 at The Hawthorns
Diangana played his part as Albion walked to yet another important home win, with their record at The Hawthorns under Corberan’s management something to be marvelled at, and a crucial part of how well they have done this season.
With a place in the playoffs their main goal as we enter the defining stages of the season, consistently impressive victories like this where, despite not blowing their opponents away they got the job done, are what makes the difference.
Football finance expert Kieran Maguire recently detailed how the playoffs could be a huge benefit to Albion with a “sizeable” financial windfall on the cards if they can secure a place in the Championship’s top six teams.
Diangana has established himself as a key player under Corberan, with his durability, consistency and ability to play across the front line proving vital when others have been forced to drop out through injuries.
In other West Brom news, Corberan was told to drag one player off at half-time.
