West Brom: Weimann blasts back at Bristol City fan accusing him of ‘totally disrespectful’ post

West Brom loanee Andi Weimann has defended himself on social media regarding a post published following the win over Bristol City.

Weimann joined Albion on loan from the Robins in January, meaning he was ineligible for Saturday’s (16 March) match at The Hawthorns.

The Austrian, via his Twitter account, praised his West Brom team-mates for getting the job done and said “it was frustrating” he could not play.

In response to that, Bristol City fan and author Dean Allen slammed the winger as “totally disrespectful” and said Weimann had let himself down.

However, Weimann was quick to respond [16 March] with: “Sorry you feel that way but Can I ask why?

“All I said was that it was an important 3 points for WBA (THE TEAM IM AT NOW) towards our target – the playoffs.

“Nothing disrespectful towards Bristol city. Never would I be as I love the club and always will. Hope that answers it.”

Andreas Weimann contract situation at Bristol City

This complaint from the Bristol City fan is bizarre and Weimann – out of contract in June – did not have to respond to it.

As Weimann himself stated, he is contracted to West Brom for now and therefore wants what is best for the Baggies.

If that comes at the expense of Bristol City, so be it. They were happy to sign off on his loan exit from Ashton Gate, after all.

Weimann has made a big impact at Albion and was therefore a miss against his parent club, but the rules have to be respected.

Carlos Corberan’s men still got the job done in his absence thanks to goals from Tom Fellows and Jed Wallace in a 2-0 home victory.

Weimann’s comment may not have gone down too well in Bristol, but he will almost certainly be on his way out of the club this summer anyway.

And if he can continue scoring and assisting for Albion, it may well be that the Baggies look to make his switch permanent in the next few months.
